About Cat Arthritis
Arthritis is inflammation of the joints and can affect cats of any age, healthy or ill. Cats can be affected by either of two types of feline arthritis. Osteoarthritis usually affects older cats. It caused when the cartilage that normally cushions the joint becomes soft and breaks down with age; then the joints begin to rub against each other, causing pain and discomfort. Rheumatoid arthritis is when the body rejects its own connective tissue cells, resulting in painful swelling in the joints.
