Cat pink eye can has several possible causes:
- Infections
- External irritants (including eyelashes)
- Trauma (e.g. injury from a cat fight)
If your cat has pink eye, you may notice a discharge oozing from her eyes. The surrounding tissues may become swollen, inflamed and pink. Your might show obvious discomfort, but not necessarily.
Common symptoms of feline pink eye
- Excessive tears
- Apparent itchiness or pain in eyes
- Red or pink in the cat's eyes
- Possibly a pus-filled discharge
- Apparent sensitivity to bright lights
Cat pink eye (conjunctivitis) may be contagious, so try to keep your cat away from other cats until the pink eye is completely gone. Left untreated, cat pink eye can become a serious problem.
