Description
What is Milk Thistle?
Milk Thistle is a natural supplement, well-known for helping with liver disease in cats, dogs and humans alike.
The active ingredient in Feline Milk Thistle is called Silymarin. This substance...
- Helps protect against free radical damage
- Aids in stabilizing liver membranes
- Helps support liver recovery
- Guards against toxins binding to the liver
Milk Thistle also supports the production of new liver cells in cats, helping to replace the damaged cells. It is a helpful supplement whenever your cat isn't feeling well. It supports the liver and helps with recovery. As an anti-oxidant, Silymarin is even more effective than vitamin E.
Feline Milk Thistle is useful health support when being treated with things like:
- Antibiotics
- Corticosteroids
- Chemotherapy drugs
- Chemical heartworm medications
Milk Thistle is an all natural herbal product that is gentle enough for long-term use.

"I just wanted to say Thank You from the bottom of my heart. My precious little “girl” Sabrina suffers from chronic hepatitis, and her vet stressed that giving her milk thistle would help her a lot. I happened upon your website about 6 weeks ago and ordered liquid milk thistle your company offered. Not only was it easy to administer, but I just received the results of Sabrina’s recent blood work. Her blood count numbers, while I don’t know exactly what each means went from 2290 down to 278!!! Another count went from 812 to 159! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this product. Again, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Sincerely,
Ann Ponchak
Customer testimonial
“My cat Freddie is so cool. He has huge amounts of energy, a great personality and the cutest little face. I always know when Freddie is ill and the most recent time it was worse than I thought as he had liver disease. The vet gave me various treatments for Freddie and I also looked for some kind of natural supplement which someone told me was a good idea too. Milk Thistle was what they were talking about. Soon after ordering, it arrived and I started administering it to Freddie. I am not kidding you, I really noticed the difference. Freddie is well on his way to good health and I just wanted to say thanks and encourage anyone else who has a cat with liver disease to try Milk Thistle”

I noticed that my cat, Rascal, was not eating like she used to, started to lose weight and she was sleeping all the time. I work at a vet hospital, so I took her in to get her weight and she was down to 8lbs, which she normally was at 14lbs. The doctor ran bloodwork on Rascal and believed that she had hepatic lipidosis. Rascal is 10 years old and I was very concerned for her health. Other coworkers had told me that they have seen a few cats come in with the same diagnosis in the past and the pets never recovered. After telling my mother about her condition she went online and found the NHV Milk Thistle.[...] Rascal has been taking it every day for about 4 months now. I have to say I was a bit skeptical whether it would really work. Rascal now weighs 14.5lbs! She is eating normally, and running all over the house with her little brother. When I took her back in to the doctor he could not believe her recovery! I believe that NHV Milk Thistle saved Rascal's life! Thank you so much for curing my pet, it truly is a miracle!

Our cat Matina was sick with liver disease and the vet issued us Denosyl which we use daily. But we will do anything we need to do for our animals so we reseached online and found Milk Thistle and promptly ordered it. We had previous bought some locally but it was mixed with some kind of alcohol which was very unappealing to our cat. This Milk Thistle is specifically for cats etc. and it very easy to administer by dropping on food. The cat does not notice it on the food. One month and a half later after being in the hospital, on IV's and blood work results very bad, she is doing way better than our expectations and eating heartily daily. Is the Milk Thistle helping? Anybodys guess, but it certainly is not hurting her. We will continue to administer and mark her progress. Thank you.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
The Vet told me that my cat had very little time left (no energy, no pink color in ear areas and losing weight). The diagnosis - liver disease (nothing could be done). Willing to try "anything" I purchased "Cat Milk Thistle". A gradual weight gain, energy level heightened and my cat runs, plays and chases balls. I mixed 3 drops in the morning and 3 drops at bedtime (accordingly with directions to weight) in canned cat food. My cat became anxious to eat it, causing me to push her away while preparing it. I can't wait to take her to the vet to let him see her! It's only been about 2-3 weeks - she appears to be back to normal.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My 7 year old male cat was diagnosed with feline heaptitis after multiple tests and biopsies. I had taken him in because he had rapidly lost about five pounds and was unable to keep any food (wet or dry) down. I did two cycles of the metronidozale and started giving him milk thistle as well. After the prescription was completed, I have kept him on the milk thistle twice daily. It has been a year since the diagnosis, and he is six pounds heavier, playful and only vomits when a furball is the issue. He is the same boy he used to be. I love the product, I have never had any issues with delivery, and the cats do not even notice it in their food. I had tried other products and they would not eat it.
It is so effective I am thinking about buying the supplement for humans and using it after a night of a few too many beers!

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My two tonkaneses boys where poisoned
By a topical flea product the older on almost died
And had to be given fluids under the skin twice a week.
I've used other products from pet wellbeing w great success ,
I had nothing to loose( except my baby)
So I put them both on this product, within a week Tyler my older cat
Stared sleeping less and playing, after two weeks he no longer needed
The fluids under his skin. After a month his coat is shinny again
Eyes are bright he plays purrs and is back to his old self-
They are both doing great 6 mnths latter,
I still keep them on the product to keep them healthy!
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART,

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My beloved cat, Sassy, was diagnosed with liver and pancreas disease at 15 years of age. The prescription my vet gave me wasn't doing much. He said she probably had 3 to 4 months to live. I wasn't ready to lose my best friend without a fight so I started researching on the internet. After reading the reviews on the milk thistle, I decided to order some. It's been six months, and she is doing good. Her coat shines, her energy level is high and her appetite is great. She is still rather thin but my vet said not to worry. I also give her another natural product that has digestive enzymes with probiotics and vitamins.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My 13 year old cat was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and was not eating much at all. He was loosing weight and I was beside myself with concern. Naturally I first consulted my vet from whom I bought milk thistle pills. I broke down the pills to a powder substance to try to hide in his food or milk (my cat actually likes skim milk).
To no avail. Kitty snubbed this. Out of desperation, I found this website at 1am one morning and just went ahead and ordered the liquid milk thistle. I put the proper amount of drops in milk twice a day. He gobbles it up. He wasn't even this excited about tuna juice when he wouldn't eat much! Anyhow, after about 2 days, I noticed a marked increase in my cat's appetite. He has definitely gained some weight back and is back to his naughty self! I would definitely recommend this product...and I am quite the sceptic usually.

My cat suffers from triaditis - a pancreatitis, IBD, liver condition. Her ALT numbers have come down on this product. The cat is very happy to take the med so it must taste pretty good to her. Hoping to see continued improvement in her condition with this. It could easily be mixed in her canned food but I prefer to give it to her directly and she does not object at all. I would recommend to other pet owners needing this product - very palatable formulation.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
Our 10 year old kitty stopped eating and was throwing up, he was 18 lbs at the time he got sick and lost 10 lbs over a very short period of time. After taking him to the vet and they ran blood tests and a liver biopsy he was diagnosed with fatty liver. We were sure we going to lose him. I got on the internet and found this product and thought I would try anything to save by kitty's life. After a short time he started eating again and before long was running around the house like his old self. It's now been 2 years and he is healthy as ever and I will never stop giving him the Milk Thistle it was truly a miracle.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My cat was very ill. She was sick for months before the Vet identified the problem as a major infection in her liver and gallbladder. She was prescribed an antibiotic clavamox for 6 weeks instead of getting better, she got worse. After one week, she stopped eating (not like her at all) I continued to force the medicine down her throat believe that it was just a matter of time before the antibiotic turned things around. She was down to skin and bones dying before my very eyes. I finally decided after give her clavamox for 2 weeks, if she was going to die anyway I was going to stop making her life miserable by fighting with her and forcing down this pill. I then began to look for alternatives that would support her liver. I found this product ordered it and received it about 4 days later. She takes it easily. I also give her collidial silver to help fight the infection. I now believe that it was the clavamox that was killing her. She appetite is back she has regained her weight and then some. I have not yet taken her back for her blood work so I can't say for sure what is going on with her lab numbers. But she is very much alive and appears healthier and happier than ever. I think getting off of clavamox and getting on to Milk Thistle saved her life.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My 5 year old cat Mr. Forest stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. Took him to the Veterinarian to find out he had fatty liver and was in very bad shape! My Vet said I would have to treat him aggressively if I want him to survive. She said even then I may still lose him. I did the antibiotics and force fed him with a syringe. I got online to research Fatty Liver and found this site on milk thistle. 5 days after I brought him in I started him on this product 2 times a day and followed the directions. Took him back in for his 2 week check up and told his doctor what I started him on. Did the blood work on him and they said I did not need to bring him back for a follow up because his blood work came back GREAT! I could not believe the results. I recommend Milk thistle to anyone who has a pet that has Liver problems.. As maintenance I give Mr. Forest 5 drops a day mixed with water once a day ( I do put it in a syringe to make sure he gets all of it).. He is back to his old crazy playful self!!!

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
My 8 year old cat Rambo was diagnosed with fatty liver disease as well as diabetes. I noticed a loss in weight for a week and then that weekend he stopped eating and drinking. The next Monday I took him to the vet to find he had a yellow mouth and gums. While sick, Rambo spent alot of time behind the couch. He was the "alpha male" of 2 cats and usually nudges the other cat away from food. After ONE WEEK of force feeding him a mixture of chicken baby food, chicken broth and milk thistle in the morning and evening (along with prescribed amoxicillin), he started eating on his own. He steadily regained his appetite back and started acting like his old normal self. My husband also discovered that dry cat food is a very poor diet for cats. we are now feeding them only canned food with a few dry treats. Rambo's nose and mouth are starting to look more pink. We are still giving him his milk thistle in the morning and evening. But we can't thank you enough that you have made this product available for sale. Alot of tears were shed for him.

Comments about NHV Milk Thistle for Cat Liver Disease:
The products I used were wonderful. It gave me 5 months of life for my cat. He was very sick and these drugs helped immensely. I used the Milk Thistle and the Plantaris. I was fortunate enough to be able to hang on to my cat for 5 more months thanks to these products. Finally, I had to let him cross the Rainbow Bridge missing him so much but knowing it was best. I would and have recommended these products to several people and will continue. I had just ordered the Plantaris and used very little and was wondering if I could give it to a Vet or someone who might need it. Any ideas would help. Thank you so much for your wonderful products. Now that I know of you should something happen to my next animal, I will know where to go, even if it is to just get info from the chat line. Thank you so much again. Wonderful, caring people. Susan

My 14 year old Kitty's liver enzymes were up at 2000 and i had tried all the recommended therapies from the vet, but it just kept getting worse and the prognosis was not good. After 2 months of petwellbeing milk thistle, the enzymes are down to 1500. The only thing that has worked for Kitty's liver. Best of all, kitty has stopped vomiting and is really improved in appetite and general health. I am going to carry on using this product, its like a miracle!

Question:
my cat is very sick with liver, she takes antibiotics and has no apetite ,i feed her,can i give her this milk?Asked on 1/25/2012 by salimari from new york1 answer
Answer:
Milk Thistle is an herb that has been traditionally used to help support liver health and functions. We would suggest administering this supplement if your cat is on antibiotics as it can help to strengthen their liver functions and alleviate nausea. There are no side effects or known adverse reactions.Answered on 1/30/2012 by Anonymous
Question:
WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HUMAN DROPS AND FELINE DROPS?Asked on 1/25/2012 by Anonymous1 answer
Answer:
Milk Thistle product made for humans can be processed with alcohol. Our pet Milk Thistle formula uses glycerine and is in a liquid form that allows it to be quickly aborbed and given at a very precise dosage - important for pets that are considerably smaller than people.Answered on 1/27/2012 by Diane from CRS office
Question:
Hi,
My 14 Year old cat has some pretty high ATL levels (1300) and I we bought the milk thistle to hopefully help improve his liver function. He takes 4 drops but trying to hold him and get 4 drops in is almost impossible. Can i mix this with any kind of tuna, or milk? If not do you have any suggestions on how I could dose 4 drops so I can just get it in his mouth with one shot? Thank you!!Asked on 1/13/2012 by Anonymous from Md1 answer
Answer:
You can add the Milk Thistle in with your pet's food. I would not suggest adding it to milk as most cats are lactose intolerant which may lead to diarrhea. Try adding the Milk Thistle to his dry food or wet food, most pets don't seem to notice once it is mixed in.Answered on 1/17/2012 by Coreena

We do not have samples of our supplements at this time. I would highly suggest the Milk Thistle to help regenerate damaged liver cells and also help to scavenge for harmful free radicals. Question:
I bought liquid Milk Thistle at a Natural Foods Store and tried giving it to my cat Sylvester.(He has liver damage for a adverse reaction to hyperthyroid medication) I have a hard time getting him to injest enough to do much good, I tried putting it in milk, and if it is too strong he won't drink it, and if I dilute it with too much and he drinks it all he gets sick. I tried giving it straight and it causes severe salivating and he druils it all back out. The vet gave him a pill called demarin (sp?) but he doesn't keep it down if I can get it in him, and when I crushed it and gave it to him I had the salivating problem. My Questions are... Does your product taste better that he won't mind taking it? Do you see the same salivating problem? If I put it in his water will it hurt my other cat? Can they be Overdosed on it?Asked on 1/9/2012 by ChefGary58 from Onaway, Mi1 answer
Answer:
Our product is completely natural and has a very herbal taste - most pets do not mind the taste at all. As for the Milk Thistle from Natural Foods there may be a chance that it was extracted with alcohol and is meant for human consumption which may explain the reason for salivating. The alcohol has a strong taste and the dosage may have been too much for your pet's body to absorb. It is completely safe for your other pets to consume this supplement as it is all natural. It is important however for the cat that does need this supplement to receive the full dosage. I would suggest adding the supplement to Sylvester's own food or directly into his mouth.Answered on 1/11/2012 by Coreena
Question:
does this contain alcohol?Asked on 1/6/2012 by Anonymous1 answer
Answer:
Our Milk Thistle does not contain alcohol. It has been extracted using glycerine. You can see the ingredients here: http://www.petwellbeing.com/products/cat-liver-disease#ingredientsAnswered on 1/10/2012 by Coreena
Question:
My elderly cat is currently on amlodipine, dexamethasone and methimazole. Her liver enzymes are dangerously high--the vet suspects liver failure. I purchased the milk thistle product from you web site and would like to give it a try. I've seen other websites that mention milk thistle might interfere with the update of p450 drugs. Amlodipine is a P450 drug. Do you know of any drugs that milk thistle should definitely not be given with? My vet isn't big on, or very knowledgeable about herbal or natural supplements. Thank you.Asked on 1/3/2012 by Anonymous1 answer
Answer:
As our Milk Thistle is extracted using glycerine and not alcohol there are no interactions with using it with any conventional medications or other natural supplements. Please let us know if you have any further questions!Answered on 1/10/2012 by Coreena
Question:
My 7 yr old cat Maxx has been hospitalized twice this year for complication with his diabeties and triad issues.Once in July for 10 days and just a week ago for 6 days. After he receives a plasma treatment he seems to bounce back. The VET feels that he may start with IBS because he throws up his food even on his special diet. This effects his diabeties when he is not eating and drinking. We use 2u of prozinc twice a day. He tested positive for pancreat. 6 months ago but did not have it a few weeks ago. His liver enzymes were slightly elevated this past event. This is very costly. We may not be able to afford these hopital stays much longer and even more important Maxx doesn't much like these stays. He is our special love and we are looking for the best way to help him. The Millet sounds good for the diabet. but the milk thistle sounds good for other issues. Is both too much? Any Suggestions?Asked on 12/28/2011 by Maxx a Million from Baltimore, Maryland1 answer
Answer:
You are welcome to use the Mellit and Milk Thistle in conjunction as they are both natural and have no side effects.
Before using the Mellit we do suggest that you inform your veterinarian when you start your cat on Feline Mellit and ask how you can monitor blood and urine glucose levels at home. Also monitor closely following any adjustment in diet. Especially if moving from a higher carbohydrate kibble diet to a higher protien, lower carbohydrate diet. Lower carb diets may reduce the percentage of body fat and lower insulin requirements.
As for the Milk Thistle you are able to administer that to your pet right away. It is very helpful for regenerating damaged liver cells. It is helpful to give to your pet while they are on other conventional medication to help guard against toxins trying to bind to your cat’s liver.Answered on 12/29/2011 by Coreena

this product have glycerine, can you please tell em whats the source of it, is it veg based?
also does this has any alcohol in it?

Answer:
There is no alcohol used in the processing our our Milk Thistle. The glycerine is natural rather than synthetic, and is vegetable sourced.Answered on 12/26/2011 by Diane from CRS office
Question:
My cat has been on a small does of prednelisone, ursidol and 1 Denamarin tablet 1x day for two years. His liver levels had stayed stable up until the bloodwork he had down this week. The levels are now more elevated, and my vet recommended we increase the prednisone temporarity then retest his liver values in 7-10 days. My question to you is, what's the difference between Demamarin, and could your product be given to my cat along with the drugs/supplements I noted? I love my cat dearly, and want to make sure I do everything I can to help him be well and safe. Thanks.Asked on 12/15/2011 by Anonymous1 answer
Answer:
Denamarin contains S-Adenosylmethionine where as our Milk Thistle is an all natural herbal remedy with naturally present Flavonolignans Silybin, Silychristin and Silidianin and is a liquid format to easily dose your beloved pet either orally or added to food.
The Milk Thistle product can be used safely with other medications and remedies however we always suggest consultation with your veterinarian before adding any supplements to your pets daily regimen.Answered on 12/19/2011 by Customer Care from CSR Office
