About dog skin wounds
Minor wounds and skin irritations on dogs may have many sources:
- Allergies
- Insect Bites
- Scratches, scrapes and minor cuts
Often, dogs can’t resist scratching or biting at these areas, making the problem much worse. Dogs can scratch until their hair falls out and their skin is bleeding.
Commonly, an affected area of your dog’s skin may start oozing a yellow or clear fluid. These patches are known as hot spots.
How to treat hot spots, minor wounds and other skin irritations on dogs
- Trim your dog’s hair in area surrounding the wound/hot spot.
- With soap and water, cleanse the affected area.
- Apply Canine Rescue Spray.
- If practical, cover the affected area.
- Consider clipping your dog’s nails (to reduce the effects of scratching).
