Description
About Bruised Paws on Dogs
If your dog is limping, he may have a bruised, cracked or wounded paw.
Help relieve your dog's obvious discomfort. Canine Heal-Care
helps keep pain at bay, while cleaning infected wounds and
promoting quick healing.
Dogs have protective pads on their feet. These pads are subject to
injury from:
- Thorns
- Broken glass
- Slivers
- Sharp rocks
- Burs
- Hot pavement
- People stepping on them
Even less active, indoor dogs aren't immune to foot pad injuries. It's all too easy to step on your dog's foot accidentally. And as you as can tell from his yelp, this hurts!
Common Symptoms of a Bruised or Injured Dog Footpad
- Obvious pain and distress, whining
- Claudicating (lifting of a limb, reluctance to step on it)
- Red, swollen or warm-feeling pads indicate inflammation
If your dog has a wounded footpad, gently examine it carefully to see if you can find and remove the source of the injury. Keep your dog calm and encourage him to rest. This will help keep the injury from getting worse and help speed healing.
Heal-Care for dog paw health
Apply Heal-Care directly to your dog's footpad. An all-natural ointment with a base of olive oil and beeswax, Heal-Care is loaded with Arnica and St John’s Wort:
- Reduces pain
- Cleans wounds
- Speeds the healing process
- Prevents cracking
- Keeps footpads healthy

Our customers have the final word...
"My dog Vince is sometimes a bit too "gung ho" for his own good. The second I let him off leash, he takes off in frantic exploration, paying no attention to potential dangers. Several times now, he's stepped on sharp objects and hurt his paws. I tried some Heal-Care last time, and it truly did wonders for him. Not only did it seem to relieve the pain, but his paws healed very quickly too. I'm going to keep a supply ready… for the next time!" Carlos, Miami FL

"As Spike gets older, I find his paws are getting more dry and cracked. Heal-Care helps a lot though. I rub a bit into his paws every couple of days and he seems to love it." Brenda, Los Angeles CA

Comments about NHV Heal-Care Ointment for Dog Paw Injury:
My short legged Jack Russell Terrier had a sore between her toes plus her pads were taking strain from the city streets. This was causing her to limp and she was in a lot of pain. I used this ointment for both ailments and in a few days her paws looked much better plus she is no longer limping. This is a miracle product that works quickly and effectively. I would definitely recommend using it daily to maintain the condition of your dogs pads especially if they are outdoors a lot. My dog now enjoys her nightly application of the ointment as it is soothing and comforting.

We have a rottie in desert of AZ - rocks, sand, heat. His pads were cracking and rough like sandpaper. After two weeks of this product they are soft and supple again. Didn't realize he had such "dry skin" like us!

Comments about NHV Heal-Care Ointment for Dog Paw Injury:
My dog had a torn paw pad and it was a pretty bad injury. It was taking SO long to heal. The paw pad had already scabbed over, but it wasn't healing underneath. I was frustrated because my Aussie is an agility dog and we were out of agility for over a month. Then I found this product. After using the product for a week the large scab that continuously cracked open, fell off and the pad was like new! I don't know for certain if it was this product that helped or not, but it certainly didn't hurt. I liked that it was all natural and I knew what I was putting on my dog's foot. The only downfall is that there aren't a lot of instructions about the use of product. I was looking for something more about how much to use and how long to keep the dog off its feet after applying the product. Overall, I do believe it helped the healing time and have already suggested this product to other agility enthusiasts with the same problem.

Our NHV products are made in Kelowna, BC, in an organic processing facility using the highest quality herbal ingredients on site. Heal-Care comes in a 2 oz (60 mL) bottle. It should be applied twice a day for the treatment of bruised or injured paws, so following this recommended application, one jar should be able to last 4 weeks (may vary depending on how much is used and on the number of paws applied to).Answered on 10/1/2011 by Customer Care from CSR Office
